Dear Fellow Democrat:
I want to thank the Executive
Board of the California Democratic Party for giving me the opportunity to
represent the great state of California on the Democratic National
Committee.
The 2010
election will be a challenging one. It is essential that our Party
articulate a message of economic justice and that we tout Democrats' ongoing
efforts to turn this economy around--through the stimulus package, health
care reform and the development of green energy jobs. It is also essential
that our Party get out the word that President Obama is working hard every
day to fulfill his campaign promises and to bring hope to America,
especially the millions who are unemployed and underemployed. I look
forward to working with my fellow DNC members to achieve these important
goals.
I want to
congratulate Becca Doten, who was also elected to the DNC on November 15. I
applaud the other candidates for DNC this year for their hard work during
this campaign and over the years as stalwarts of our Party: Bobbie Jean
Anderson and Jennifer Ong for the female seat; and Henry Vandermeir, Shawn
Bagley and Ruben Macareno for the male seat. Our Party is stronger because
of their efforts.
I also want
to thank all those who helped with my campaign, but especially Vice-Chair
Eric Bauman, DNC Executive Board Member Garry Shay, Caucus Chairs Helen
Doherty, Michael Fong, Judy Jacobs, and Darren Parker. I owe a special
thanks, as well, to Josh Kurpies, Nik Swiatek, Anna Soto, Jill Martinez,
William Y. Sheh, Michael Nye, Silissa Uriarte-Smith, Amos Young, Jr., Dante
Atkins, Damian Carroll, my spouse, Dr. Peter Kreysa, my neice Abriannah
Aiken, and others of our family and friends who volunteered their time.
During the
campaign, I promised to make growing our Party my #1, #2, #3 and #4
priority. I know you will join with me in this effort.
Democratically yours,
Laurence Zakson
